The National Hispana Leadership Institute’s (NHLI) Mid-Career Fellowship was the catalyst for launching my business, D&P Creative Strategies, two and a half years ago. NHLI gave me the self-confidence to follow my dream of creating a business that would allow my partner, Catherine, and I to give back to the communities that matter so much to us. The training provided by NHLI, encourages new leaders to step out of their comfort zones, question their assumptions, imagine new possibilities, and transform these visions into realities. We stepped out of our comfort zone and created a very successful business that has surpassed our wildest dreams. I am just one example among thousands of Latinas who have been empowered by the NHLI experience. click

“In order to make more of a difference in our communities, we started our business a little over a year ago,” shared Ingrid Duran and Catherine Pino, founders of D&P Creative Strategies. It is a national consulting firm with the passion for empowering the communities it represents — Latino, women, and GLBT (gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender). Their primary mission is consulting with a social conscience, which includes philanthropic advisement by assisting wealthy individuals and corporations in developing strategic and sound grantmaking plans.

Mention philanthropy, and an image of a primly
dressed Manhattan socialite tapping the Rockefellers or the
Motts for the latest cause du jour might spring to mind. Philanthropy,
though, is changing, and so are its players.
Hispanics are becoming more and more involved
in the philanthropic world, on both the receiving and giving
ends, and theyre doing their part to ensure Latino organizations
are thought of as worthy options for the corporations, foundations
